"Pulsing, fizzing, skipping, scratching, screaming, dying ... teems with emotionally charged sonic language." — Jordan Adams, SevenDaysVT
Arousing // Fenestration is a two movement improvisation for mixer created for Waking Windows 2018 in Winooski, VT.
Artist's Note:
The technique of no-input mixing brings with it a sense of danger. The sounds are never fully under my control. My influence is constrained; my tools are imprecise, their effect delayed.
The sense of premonition must be increased. Tones hidden, building beneath the surface texture can erupt quickly and, once erupting, are difficult to tame.
Following the shifting patterns across the entire spectrum is exhausting. The distinction of "rhythm" and "pitch" fades, leaving only the physicality of sound flowing in all directions.
